As long as the American Academy of Pediatrics approves of GLBT parents adopting children, which they do, it's critical to eradicate the discriminatory practices against this vulnerable population. Beyond the Constitution, there's a large amount of illiteracy surrounding GLBT rights.
The U.S. military has furthered its support for more GLBT rights. I suggest naysayers/protesters to GLBT marriage read about hate crimes against that particular community. The issue here is about adoption agencies, hospitals, medical, auto, mortgage and life insurance agencies allowing GLBT families the same rights as heterosexual, married couples.
This is a stabilizing factor, not a polarizing one, because these couples are commitment-oriented. Those GLBT couples should be welcomed and included, to prevent domestic terrorism from overtaking Alabama. They are less likely to join/support Hutaree, KKK, skinheads, Nazis, and neo-Nazis.
Westboro Church continually tries to be divisive by spreading rumors, and lies about GLBT culture. Some GLBT are disabled veterans, so this is unpatriotic and will cause more diseases/epidemics, which are fatal, without a cure to Alabama, or the world. Monogamy is best, if celibacy is not chosen. Compromising and allowing them to marry will promote true family values.
