The same factors seem to exist among Western jihadists, as in Tunisia: the larger amount of more literate, yet restless, middle-class demographic, along with an environment for radical extremism on both sides of the political spectrum.
The conflicts in Northern Virginia are similar: ultraliberals and ultraconservatives are often glamorizing physical abuse, sexual abuse, promoting poly-addictions, riots, hate militias, and gangs. For some reason, they must have become the prisoners' or parolees' leaders. How effective community anti-gang, prison, and parole programs are determines the odds of how successful the ISIL recruiters can be in Colorado and Northern Virginia.
Both extreme sides, which use similar tactics, enjoy spouting propaganda about how they are the "moderates." They leverage their young recruits to assist them with Millennial campaigns, for human trafficking/"arranged child marriage" purposes.
One of the hallmarks of every young generation is an intrinsic need for autonomy and the recruiters try to groom them with this promise. They (under the guise of a mentor, victim advocate), can easily radicalize the impoverished, illiterate Tok-Tok drivers this way in Egypt, and take advantage of the prison populations.
They flourish in environments of political, and law enforcement corruption, electing themselves into political office, social services, and using large amounts of mind control drugs on entire school systems.
***ISIL seems to be that pandemic flu that strikes the healthiest, especially youngest adults, which is startling.***
