Shady Things That Make Even Me Go Hmmmm About Myself...:
I was doing a cheerleader routine once with a group of female friends in sixth grade. Although, I didn't grow any taller after that, I went into the U.S. Navy, active duty, instead of the Peace Corps, in the Cote d'Ivoire, like I had obsessed about for decades. I was then the one who slept on a teddy bear print, fuzzy blanket, frequently chewed bubblicious bubble gum, had a Southern accent at times, and blew large, pink bubbles in San Diego, CA.
I was frequently mistaken for a Japanese foreign exchange student, or a bohemian, hippie surfer there off-base. I was addicted to Gaelic and Swahili language, and I thought the Peace Corps, African politics, civil rights and the musical band, Clannad were cool to discuss there with everyone. Since Birkenstocks, hippie skirts and seashell necklaces were my fashion sense, I fit in with the GLBT liberals, Californian hippies, and the Mexican people the most in San Diego.
