The recent ultra-orthodox, Jewish deaths, related to circumcisions will require Jewish-inclusive fundraising for preventing anymore infant illnesses, or deaths. I fully support circumcision by a board-certified pediatrician, but that costs money, which the ultra-orthodox, Jewish community cannot honestly afford.
Beyond religious beliefs, there have been studies that circumcision prevents HIV infections. It should be, ideally, left up to the actual individual, at age eighteen though, the decision to get a circumcision. There's also the lowered incidence of infections, supposedly.
I left the decision up to my son's father, who chose circumcision, but I had also read about lowered HIV risks, yet regret it wasn't performed by a feminist, female, Jewish-American, board-certified pediatrician at Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii. They had none, but at the least, a medical doctor (M.D./D.O.) should perform any circumcision procedures, with topical lidocaine numbing. Maybe it's safer to wait until the infant is a year-old also.
