It's best to visit all Hawaiian Buddhist temples, and be part of the Chinese and South Vietnamese communities also. There, take advantage of the opportunity to learn about mindfulness in relating to other people. Being mindful means not letting your attention wander towards drafting a response, during conversations with other people. This helps others have a voice, because if all you can do is listen with compassion, it builds trust. Instead of judging what's said, try to paraphrase what you believe they have tried to communicate to you. Be aware of body language and facial expressions, along with the tone of their voice.
