Even with HIV, the victims could live a decade, with proper medical care. The widespread practice of reusing needles, medical, tattoo, piercing and acupuncture needles in Southeast Asia, and Southeast Asian, immigrant communities increases the risk of Hepatitis C, and HIV.

Lack of safe, drinking water, flood-proofed, typhoon-proof shelters, schools, adult literacy, famine, patriarchal, mass raping, and genocide by the military, police, government and accessible medical care have been most challenging for the entire population of Cambodia. This is a country whose military and militarized police are infamous for brutality and corruption, beyond the scale seen in Mexico.
