Organic, Heritage Turkey Coop Design: 700 square feet interior space

Design for organic, heritage, turkey coop, for the local, wonderful, Denver Rescue Mission. They provide Thanksgiving meals and year-round shelter to homeless families in the metro area.

1. Brand-new solar paneling on the roof for radiant floor heating system and interior UV heat lamps.

2. Radiant floor heating with exterior-grade, well-insulated, new plumbing pipes to heat the radiant floor water in the concrete crawl space.

3. Recaimed, salvaged bricks with construction sand can be used on the top floor, but there needs to be a fire-resistant concrete foundation, with a concrete frame to "sandwich" the radiant floor pipes and electrical wiring between. It needs two concrete floors, one being the foundation.

It needs to be accessible so a large adult can comfortably crawl down to the crawl space to regularly inspect and repair any radiant floor heating pipes/wiring. The crawl space needs to have at least four light switches, four 1,000 watt fluorescent light bulbs and four power outlets for power tools. That way it can get repaired, or maintained/updated.

4. Salvaged, reclaimed materials could also be used, such as:

-Old, wooden pallets, for the wrap-around, screened porch. The turkeys could freely go in and out, along with having a second, bird flu-safe, roofed, screened outdoor pen area/yard, triple the size of their interior space in square footage.

-Straw bales, for eco-friendly insulation and nesting materials.

-Shelves built from old wooden pallets for nesting.

-Old deck wood, lead-free, post-1980 for exterior walls. Also there should be an interior wall with shelving from reclaimed deck wood. In between the walls should be at least half a yardstick-width of space for eco-friendly, donated straw bales to be stacked for coop insulation.

-Structural beams, solid wood, pressure-treated to bear the weight of roof, solar paneling and exterior walls

-Double deep sink, reclaimed/salvaged, stainless steel, with a brand-new garbage disposal drain, and running water from a healthy well, checked for all possible contamination, including sewage runoff from surrounding damaged septic systems.
